hands too low...
« on: July 30, 2018, 04:35:10 PM »

amoungst being hit on the elbow, thumb and little finger on Saturday in a magnificent innings of precisely 2 runs, one of the opposition offered this advice from slip

''it's your pitch you got to bat on it, your hands are way too low, you are asking to get hit'

is the simple answer to this to stand up straighter in the stance and therefore raise everything upwards?

be interested to see if others have 'low hands'

Surely  getting hit is more to do with the bounce than where your hands are.
I am a bottom hand thumper and rarely get hit on the hands

I would have thought that it is more the contact point with the ball that would dictate how low your hands are
If you play the ball directly under your eyes then your hands should be high. If you play defensive strokes along way out in front of you, then your hands will be lower at the point of contact

If your hands are too low, you may be an orangutan.

depends on the pitch if its keeping low you want your hands low to keep the ball out. but if its a bouncy quick track will maybe want to have them a bit higher.

Getting smashed on the thumb is one thing, but if you got hit on the elbow I don't think the position of your hands is the problem. Unless it happens every time you bat I wouldn't worry about it tbh
