Caveman and his new Bat
« on: September 05, 2018, 09:30:31 PM »

Hello Everyone!

So after a hiatus of about 6-7 years I finally returned to cricket few weeks back. A lot had happened in between my old days at custom bats forum and now. We moved couple of times; I finished my dissertation and am now a Prof (yes, do spare a thought for the students); and most importantly, I have been blessed with two lovely daughters. It took me all these time to digest the new events and finally when the time was ripe, I sent Sir Asad Qureshi a message to get my first new bat in 7 years. I did not want to spend my arms and legs as I had no idea whether I could even middle the bloody ball now. I was originally looking for a Ton Vision or Legacy but on receiving the pictures from Asad, I decided to get the Ton Champion bat that was supposedly willowed to commemorate Dwayne Bravo's  fine performance in the 20/20 WC few years back. They had (I think) about 200 of these made. Mine weighs about 2.9. I wanted to go for SS, as my experience with their bats have consistently been good for years. In fact the last bat I got from Uzi was a SS Matrix and I am including some pictures of that as well. I loved the response of the Matrix from the get-go and it quickly became my favorite though I had other more expensive stallions in my stable.

So much has changed in the bat world and SS is a fitting example in that regard. If you look at the comparisons-  the profile, tow, pressing (the new one needs substantially more knocking in)- just the differences are news to me. I am sure the step by step changes have been observed acutely by you guys but to me it seems like a brave new world though I was out for about 6-7 years.

I want to thank Sir Asad for his help. I knew that if I had to choose a bat blindly, he was the go-to guy.

Trying to upload the images...dunno if it will work. So much has changed; I feel like a caveman.

Thanks Rob. Congrats on your new moniker and your shop. It’s good to be back among you guys.

Any input on how I can make the images bigger here before clicking? I am using postimage.
