If you've used one , are they any good?  Able to apply the grip by yourself /with a grip cone ? Nmcgee told me that they might not be suitable for wristy batsmen.  I'd like some more info/experiences from anyone if possible as I'm contemplating getting some . Thanks.

Other than that they may make round handles feel better to oval handle users , apparently,  they aid in reducing bat twist , keep the hands locked in the correct position better , and just feel better .....apparently.

Why not just tape a strip of something under the grip? Or don't buy a round handle bat and bodge it if you like oval handles, or is that crazy

Yep, they are valid options.
Personally im not a fan of adding tape to change shape of handle though . The squirel grips are meant to have the extra strip placed slightly off centre to pad out where the v of the hands actually is for most people. ..this intrigues me . Also , i have oval , semi oval , and round handles onvarious bats as my arthritic hands need something different on an almost daily basis (just depends which area hurts most etc) , so having something that can change the handle shape and feel somewhat , and be easy enough to change back again , also appeals.

Interesting idea that I hadn't seen before - an extra strip of rubber down the 'V' of the hands (a number of batsmen have used a slightly different grip with great success). It suggests it helps reduce choking the handle at the bottom. Adam Gilchrist used a squash ball inside his glove to achieve this. The squash ball was in his palm (ie further around the handle), rather than in the 'V'.  Different approaches (different locations of additional rubber) to solve the same issue.

Well I didn't listen and googling 'squirrel grip' images made my eyes water.

As for the actual product, when I use proper oval handled bats they tend to sort my hand position out for me but I think I'd find this helpful on round handled bats.
