Afghanistan vs Ireland
« on: March 16, 2019, 10:25:53 PM »

Think this series has slipped under the radar somewhat. The ODIs where very competitive and ended 2-2 with one washed out.

The Test match is currently ongoing and Afghanistan are well on top. Ireland struggled with the bat 172 in their first innings. Tim Murtagh scoring an unbeaten half century at 11 to save their blushes.

Afghanistan scored 314, Rahmat Shah agonisingly mussed out on Afghanistan’s first test century with 98.

Ireland 22-1 in their second innings.

Unfortunately for Ireland their Test recognition came about 5 years too late. They probably should’ve received it after the 2011 icc World Cup.

Make no bones about it the Afghans are coming and perhaps in 10-15 years time they’ll become the next Asian super team.

Also one noteworthy stat, Afghanistan become the first side to play their first Test at home and away in the same country.
