Visited B3 factory during my UK world cup trip
Met Richard
Great to see their operation
I got a nice tour of the factory and really appreciate the effort they put in getting each bat right and with their maths around density and shape creation ....it just shows how dedicated b3 is towards its product

I got to see some pro bats - Steve smith , Joe root, Finch and few more

Finally picked up two grade 2 clefts and handpicking does help
waiting on the bats now

Top notch company, been dealing with b3 and Richard for the last 12 months. The thing I like about b3 is when you see the

CAD drawing you can vision the bat you are getting.
Would be one of my top priorities when I get over to UK again is to go and see there operation.

How long did you wait before posting here? Manufacturers should always be given a fair shot at addressing any issues.

^if it's same cleft customer must have noticed the knot. Unless cleft has been changed by mistake or something. But why would b3 make bat with hole in it for anyone

Not as simple as that - you can't see everything inside a raw cleft from the outside before it gets shaped into a bat. That does look less than desirable though.

Spot on, you never know what is hiding inside a cleft, and since it isn't in the playing area of the blade it doesn't necessarily warrant downgrading the willow.

I'm sure B3 wouldn't have sold it on if they had any inclination that it would affect the longevity or performance. A bit of willow dust mixed with glue would probably make it far easier to look at if it really bothers you, and equally I'm sure B3 will try to be accomodating I'd you arent satisfied.

Hi all, I have replied to the email received on Saturday afternoon by @i12breakfree

This was unforeseen in the clefts, some manufacturers fill or cover such makes but this only hides it temporarily. We prefer to leave natural.

I have asked our customer how he would prefer to move forward with this.

The raw cleft did not have the knot. I would not pick that to start with.
But obviously it showed up during the manufacturing process.

Obviously I was not happy to see the hole and emailed about it .

I'll use the bat for now and hopefully there will be no further damage.
Again I am not sure what the industry standard for these issues. May be the required fix would have been done (even if it was doing a wood glue and willowdust fill ) as part of manufacturing because then at least I could have said it's professionally done and cleaned up, instead of me trying and leave glue marks etc as it's a brand new bat.
Or before shipping I would have been informed of and provided options, to avoid such surprises. That would have been a much better approach to handle such issue.
Sending bat back from Usa and all is big hassle.

I do like both the bats and once knocked they will ping amazing.
The shape is excellent and pickup is really good (my main reason to go with this shape).

Some places would fill it and/or sticker over.

Guess it�s more honest to leave it as is, but understand it�s not what you want to see when you first pick up a long awaited bat.

Bit of wood filler and it should be near invisible, not a messy job either.

i'd call it a blemish, not damage and it has no effect on performance.
