Hi all,
Having always heard great things about Kippax bats I was keen to try one at some point. When this beauty came up on ebay i couldnt resist (thank you
@JTtaylor145)
So here it is.
A Kippax problade weighing 2.10 (with one grip) looking at the video i believe it is the one from Cricket boutique as you can see from this video (
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ULWefRRw3RY) it had the black stickers on it. I purchased it blank so which was actually a blessing as I love the new stickers.
The profile is very full and has a low spine. Which should mean will aid front foot stroke play.
The pickup is excellent not bottom heavy as you might expect from a bat having a low middle position. The pick up is aided with the bat having a shorter blade & normal length handle configuration which MIGHT take some getting used to but as this isnt my first experience with such a setup i hope to be able to adapt to if i stick to it.
As the bat was new when i purchased it (althoght unstickered) the bat needed knocking in. I started to do so and found that the press was quite hard. The more i knocked the better the response was higher up. from the middle it was superb straight away. Thankfully I found out that JT had acually knocked it in for around 3/4 hours prevousily which was great news. So it has had the "magic" 6 hours of knocking.
I used it for the first time on Saturday at a net.
Well I can now see why most of the England and Yorkshire pros are using Kippax to make their bats. As the ping from the bat is that of a trampoline! When you find the middle you do not feel anything. It is very responsive off centre too.
This wasnt the only kippax i used at the net session - more to follow on that one (that one is even better!)
Overall very pleased that i took the "punt" and purchased this one. I also picked up the Softs and bag deal when i purchased the stickers which again are excellent.
Whether it will be my match bat is another thing as the other kippax might steer that but its great to have options!!
