My visit to B3 - highly recommended!
« on: June 04, 2019, 11:46:09 AM »

I made it to B3 last Tuesday with my cricket mad 80 year old dad (Yorkshire man), and my 13 year old son, looking for new gear for my son and wanted to provide some info for anyone else considering going, whether for themselves or their offspring.

Before going I spoke to Richard at B3 to make sure the nets would be free. The journey was 2 hours from Manchester so we were happy when we finally landed.

We didn't get off to the best start as my son was after a harrow and the theory of the visit was for him to try a few bats out in the nets.  So when I was told they only had one in the showroom that kind of limited the options somewhat.  After the long drive I was a bit annoyed but bottom line is I should have made it clear on the phone what I expected, so I can't blame B3 for that.  If you are thinking of going to try some bats in the nets,  do check what they will have available.

Anyways, Richard came and spoke to us and we took 3 size 6's and a harrow into the nets.  Richard was beyond great and spent 45 minutes with my son, giving him some (much needed) batting advice whilst he tried out the 4 bats.

My son really enjoyed the net session and decided on the light harrow.

We'd come looking to get the package deal on offer - bat, gloves and pads.  I went for the 2 strip and as they didn't have the standard youth gloves in stock we got the £60 ones.

After I sorted the cash and my son his preferred stickers, Richard gave us a tour of the factory which is highly recommended and we all really enjoyed it, especially my dad who until that point hadn't seen the bat making process first hand.

All in all I highly recommend a visit to B3 and although the journey was a pain from Manchester, all three of us thought it more than worth while.

Finally I can't overstate how great Richard was, providing all round excellent customer service.  He was a credit to B3 and couldn't have been more helpful (thank Richard if you read this!).

My advice - do it.  The level of service we got from B3 was second to none and I am more than happy to support a "local" bat maker when they provide such a great buying experience.

Also, spending a day at B3 with my dad and son was special for me.  I hope my son gets the same enjoyment from cricket that its given me and my dad (and a few more runs!).

Obviously they have to make the bat so once it lands I'll post some pictures.

Glad to hear someone else had a good time! I've been to B3 a few times at both their old and new factory, always been impressed by the facilities.

I'm heading down on Thursday, hoping they have plenty of shorter blade SH's made up and a few low density clefts in stock if possible. I'll give them a ring before I go to make sure.

Hope the bat has plenty of runs in for your son when it arrives, after having a fair few B3's myself im sure it will  :)
