Knocking in A GM!Now bat?
« on: September 28, 2019, 04:18:19 PM »

Anyone have experience of knocking in GM Now bat at all?  How long does it really need to get it really ready for at least nets, and then how much for match use?  Any specific things to look out for or areas to concentrate on from experience?
i know it is "semi' knocked in so don't want to break it by not prepping it properly!

Thanks

I just spent some time on the edges and toe not too hard then went into the nets on slow balls.

My experience of GM having used them mainly for the last 3 seasons is the GM now means they are a little hard, now personally I don’t use a mallet to knock in bats. I have found that straight into nets against Bola balls works perfectly given about 5/7 sessions at about 30 mins each. Even better would be if you had nets where you could face spin or slow bowling with quality d league balls. This way you get used to pick up and feel as well as bat prep.

Anyway about 5/6 hours I have always found and then good to go, I open the batting and always fave new ball and never had any issues with damage or performance after my bat prep.

Sounds good, thanks for the advice. Will combine then with some additional light tapping and try and play it in a bit over the winter in nets.  Fingers crossed for next season!

My GM just needed a bit of knocking on the toe and edges for about an hour then it was good to go
