Kook bat widths
« on: October 11, 2019, 07:09:51 PM »

Evening all, can I ask those that own or use Kook bats are the blade widths commonly under the 108mm width?

I’m interested in trying one as never really given one a chance and all those at my club perform well but the one Kook a did buy was 103mm wide (verve model) and it was so noticeable it stood out a mile. Been given the width of another and it’s 106mm.

Is this a way to get big edges in low weights but making the bat narrower??

Sounds weird for 2mm but if it’s noticeable it will just play on my mind.

I can't personally confirm this, but I did once hear that a mm off all the edges could save 1oz. So yes, in my opinion manufacturers do shave bats to save weight.

There is  another trend - back of the bat narrower than the face! I have seen kooks do this too.

And top narrower than the lower.

I got a reply from Kookaburra the other day about their "Small Mens" bats and they confirmed the widths were less for those and similar to Harrow,  with also a short blade but a slightly longer handle than a Harrow if that helps?  They also confirmed that most would be 2lb 5 or under for the small mens which makes sense (a couple were weighed at a retailer and were more like 2lb3)

I wonder if it might be a small mens or even a harrow?  Have you measured the total length as they stated these?

Short Handle – 5’9” – 6’+:
Total – 86.5cm

Small Adult – 5’7” – 5’9”:
Overall – 83cm

Harrow – 5’5” – 5’7”:
Overall – 81.5cm

Cheers all for your input so far.

Could anyone that owns a Kook or two measure the widths and see if there is a common trend to kooks being narrower blades please.

Cheers

@jayralh thanks mate. I can’t quite make out from the pic even when zooming in what the width is, could you confirm please? Also looks like a lovely bat for a G4

@SOULMAN1012 if you click on the picture it opens in a new window and the resolution is much better, so you can zoom in and still read what it says  :)

Most kooks in the shop are 106mm, smallest a big kahuna at 105.6mm and largest a kook pro at 107.6mm

Comparison with SH but narrower anthem and Harrow GM. I think kook is close to 108 being round face.
