Newbery balls
« on: February 14, 2020, 06:45:23 AM »

Anyone any experience with these?

Looks like we will be using them this season.

Also does anyone know when Newbery started selling their own branded balls? Our board is telling everyone that they have been making balls since the 1900’s, which would be tough since they weren’t established until 1981, but I got the feeling they only started doing balls 5-10 years ago.

They won't catch us this time! Not this time! They haven't spotted us! No, they're all snoring in their bunks! Or, you know what? They're drinking at the bar, celebrating our sinking! Not yet, my friends. Not yet!

I played for a gents side for a number of years that used them in all matches

At best they were not great. I’ve played with worse. No major problems in terms of keeping shape but seam was non existent, impossible to shine and they leave a horrible thick maroon cherry on scuff sheets, never seen anything like it before or since.

Cheers,

Oh well, doubt the white ones will be any better. Our board has been on a constant quest to find the cheapest ball that is usable without the games decent info into chaos. No idea why.

Not me making the decision unfortunately.

Any idea who actually makes them?

Or how long newbery have been selling balls. In our board minutes it says they have been producing balls since the 1900’s. Not sure where to start with that.
