SF Stanford - Thoughts?
« on: June 06, 2020, 07:33:38 PM »

I’m looking to refresh my gear for the season and I’ve been looking at trying an Indian brand.

I was in VKS and they stocked SF Stanford. It’s a brand I’ve seen through some sponsorships (Morgan, Denly etc) but they seem to go under the radar. But the gear they sell looked good to my eye (esp soft gear) but isn’t exactly cheap. Although I’ve seen some good deals online for the U.K. specific gear they seemed to have released last year. Quite a few discounts to be had.

How do they stack up, as a general rule, compared to the likes of SS, SG, DSC, BAS etc?

Didn’t SF use nails in their handles? Not for me i’m afraid. I’ve not had any real experience with Indian brands so can’t offer a better alternative.
Sorry, totally useless reply.

It’s nice stuff. I’ve got a Black Edition bat that I never got around to using (got it from VKS) and it’s a great shape, yet still remarkably light. I think they press their bats extraordinarily well too.

Also have one of their Summit LE duffle bags, and it’s very well made.

Softs are good. There have been issues with the handles in the past, so you might want to consider adding £50 for a replacement handle onto the bat price.
The willow itself can be very good.

I don't know how to put this, but, I'm kind of a big deal.

I have had bad experience with SF bat in the past so I stay clear from them. Very dry bats.

Brother in law bought a lovely SF last year that broke in two first game. But to be fair, it was replaced without question.

Why not try Robinson Sports? I have a couple of them and they both are stunning and made to specs.

Why not SS, BAS or SG? You see them a lot even on international circuit. Also, their lower grade bats perform really really well. Don't have to spend a fortune on these brands.

I second that. If you wanna buy Indian you cant do much better than Robinson. Tried and tested. Their customer service is 2nd to none
