Cricket shoes boot advice
« on: July 21, 2020, 07:59:54 AM »

Morning guys, I’m just wondering what everyone thinks the best shoe on the market is for stability? When I was growing up I remember actual boots which seemed to come up the ankle a bit higher like Nike did? I can’t find these for sale anymore but for someone who’s had 3 ankle repairs I’m trying to find the best supportive boot out there so for this one money doesn’t really matter! What’s everyone got? What’s the best? Cheers

The best I've found were these.

Not the lightest by a long shot but they are wide enough and definitely give the best support. I've got a pair waiting in the wings should I need to replace my current footwear.

The shoe manufacturers all moved away from really high cut boots a few years ago after research suggested locking the ankle in place did more harm than good.

Agree with KettonJake.

High cuts are literally gone off the shelf for cricket. I did use an ankle strap for a while, which you can get from any pharmacy store. However, after few days of use I discontinued it as they were not comfortable with the regular cricket shoes.

You may want to try this https://www.customcricketshoes.com/

Funny thing is, I've argued this case (without any proof) with the mrs based on what I've gone through and feel and I agree on high cut boots do more harm than good.

I've got flat feet, had a few ankle injuries and in my opinion the mids are fine. Not too high and the strap gives support without restricting.

If you don't trust mids, then puma and a few others have the strap.

The adidas vector shoe is not high cut but really secures the foot. Only thing I didn’t like is that the toe box is a tad narrow. But overall quite comfortable and versatile (can even wear while batting).

For £140 you can get some of these...
