New addition to the Gray Nics collection (GN Superbow)
« on: September 07, 2020, 12:55:27 AM »

So new season starting here in Aus and thought might as well buy a new bat. The bat is a Gray Nicolls Superbow, part of the collection that’s hand made down in Melbourne. Bat is a monster. Have my old match bat (now net bat I guess lol) the GN Atomic as reference next to it and it’s huge. The Atomic is very chunky and has a 38mm edge and the Superbow somehow dwarfs it with 42 with thicker shoulders and toe while being an ounce lighter (2.11 Atomic and 2.10 Superbow).

Not sure with the grade of willow since it’s just classified as “players grade”. My guess is that these bats focus on low density and ping rather than looks but it still looks pretty damn nice. Been eyeing this for a while now since I restarted playing cricket so I’m super happy with what I got. Overall set me back 615 AUD but honestly I think it’s a bargain compared to the grade 1 stuff that gets sold here for 800+. Plus it’s hand made her in Aus which is awesome

Did you get it from Muelemans?

Is it a shorter blade configuration?

Great bat, would be great if you can post a full bat profile pic from side as well. How is the ping compared to atomic?

Got it from Kingsgrove in Sydney. Normal short handle length bat

The Atomic is a ripper of a bat, but this one seems next level tapping it up with the mallet. Being a handcrafted one from down in Melbourne, I doubt they'd make many duds to be fair. Will see how it fares in the nets this weekend but I have no doubt it'll smash it. I got lucky with this bat because it was already fully prepped with a knock in and oil. I think a customer had the shop prepare it for them but then backed out of the sale. I basically was able to come in at the 11th hour and pick up this absolute gem

Looks a cracking bat. Do you have many Aussie GNs?

Is the face width a little narrower as I thought I read that a lot of the Aussie made ones were 105mm width

No calipers or anything on me, so might not be super accurate but I'm getting about 106mm. I've heard the same as well. Probably how they get the monster shapes within the weights. Guess I just gotta middle it haha
