I’ve recently purchased a dehumidifier for the room that I keep my bats in and cannot get over how much water it takes out of the air and how much it lowers humidity levels.

Any experts that can tell me the optimal settings that would be for perfect bats?

This an outstanding CBF post. Love it!

Why would you want over dry the air environment your bat is kept in?

Mine are all now out in the garage fattening up over winter, ready for next year.

I don't think leaving it in the garage is recommended either... Sealing the bat and leaving in a cool and dry room is what is generally recommended for storage

Sealing meaning oiling?

Trying to remember but I’m sure GM keep everything to around 18 degrees

Remember a Keeley (then of Newbery) piece in one of the magazines saying normal room temperature.

How about in the wine cellar? That would likely be about perfect.
