Bowling spikes vs batting spikes
« on: April 23, 2021, 05:57:43 AM »

Are bowling spikes and batting spikes the same? can an opening batsman wear a NB 4040 (sold as bowler's shoes). What are the different types of metal spikes shoes?
Need some basic guidance.

cheers

Bowling spikes have much more ankle support. Most batting spike shoes support stops just below the ankle to allow unrestricted movement. Bowling spikes support typically goes much higher up the foot, some even covering the ankle entirely. You can bat in any cricket shoe, but batting in bowling spikes may not be particularly comfortable, and you might not be able to get a decent fit at the bottom strap of the pad.

These days the high top bowling boots are pretty much gone, some pure fast bowlers' boots will be a slightly higher cut but only marginally. Main difference is often that 'batting' spikes only have two spikes in the heel rather than four. Batting in a 'bowling' spike will be no bother unless they have a support strap or similar that interferes with your pads.

I use 4 Spikes under the heel, for bowling. This for better grip and balance.
