Evening all
So to match my softs and after a bit of debate I also picked up a G2 bat as part of Gary’s bundle deal for bat, pads, gloves and bag. I had no need for bag and the softs I did I little review of last week.
Still sticking to my max 3 bats rule I found myself with just two so that was enough to convince me plus the fact I have had two B&S a few seasons back that are both being used now by a team mate and they have always been superb performance wise.
This is a G2 and a new shape for 2020 and I must say Iv totally fallen for this one. Iv used in four net sessions now and it’s just superb. Takes something special for me to keep and this is certainly special.
So specs wise it’s 2.9 with a double thick chevron and standard SH size. Edges are 37mm, toe 25mm at the middle of the toe and shoulders 13mm so it’s a decent size. It’s a mid middle i would say and the pickup and balance is the best of any of my bats. 3 lads have picked it up and all reckoned it was 2.6 or 2.7. I know it’s not heavy and pick up is subjective but it’s really that good.
Then we have the performance. It’s just superb as good as my GM players edition after the four sessions and The middle is just amazing. I’m going to balance this out with the fact it’s not the best finish wise. It’s good but not quite to the same standard as my GM’s but they don’t stay brand new for long.
8 grains nice and straight and dead straight through the toe and mirrored on the back. A little bit of marble stain smack in the middle of the bat but has no effect on performance at all. Handle is semi oval and quite thin but balanced out with the double thick chevron.
If anyone hasn’t tried one I would and looking and new sticks I would strongly consider one of these and this is certainly one of my favourite shapes of recent times.
