A2, SS or SG
« on: January 20, 2022, 07:43:09 PM »

Hi guys, confused between these three brands. Which one would you recommend? I have narrowed down to A2 Omega, SG players ultimate or Ton Silver edition, Smacker & 7000? Help…
Any other suggestions are welcome.

If it were me SG. SS make so many bats  sure if you could pick them by hand I'm sure enough could find a bargain.

Don't know much about A2.

Folks can correct me if I'm wrong - but I think I read somewhere that SG pump out the largest numbers.

A2 are interesting - they seem to pump out pretty darn high quality goods - craftsmanship looks good. I've never seen one in the flesh though...

If you're looking to spend a fair chunk on an SS - I wouldn't look further than the SS Maximus range, they've increased their Players bats to 77k INR, which is pretty nuts, and have introduced a 150k INR bat. From my experience, their LE/Maximus grade is pretty much on par with their Players.

The SG RP Icon and KLR Icon ranges are pretty darn similar to the Players shapes, so can be a good shout for a budget option.

If you're looking for Value for Money, I would guess that A2 might offer the best - they don't have so many sponsored players to feed, and make in a more limited number, so probably have a better control of quality. (I haven't seen any in person to judge) If you can visit a retailer, there are some Butterfly gems that SS seem to make. :)

Heard good things about the SG icon range. Seem to be good value.

I think the SS do the Master 500 which is butterfly for budget options.

Depends upon what u r looking for ; A2 offer good pricing and Bespoke options with very less to no retail presence. U will not get to see many bats to chose from.
Where else with SS and SG u can get lot of shapes and weight options and a big market presence compared to A2 but then there is high price and no Bespoke option.

I have been using an A2 vertex for the last 2 seasons and it's a fantastic bit of wood and great value for money.

Thanks guys for the replies. Might go with SG Players Ultimate or A2 Omega as I already have a SS Gladiator. Don't think I can better that SS.

Never come across A2 - are they an Indian brand?

I believe they are an Indian brand yes, I've seen a few of their things on Instagram but haven't really heard any reviews about them or seen them for sale in the UK.

A2 is a brand that I'd be also very keen to try out. Whenever I'm in India the next time I'm getting one. So my choice here would be A2. SG/SS are solid bats but the curiosity factor isn't quite there.

If you fancy an Indian made bat I can highly recommend Robinsons - excellent customer service and the bats received were well pressed and lovely shapes.

Customcricket201 sell A2 in the UK, think they did a review of the Omega on social media somewhere.

Never come across A2 - are they an Indian brand?

Young lad from India who went to Bristol Uni, meet with him a few years back when he was just starting the brand and tried to offer him some guidance through the industry. Genuinely nice lad and the brand has grown rapidly as a result, some very good products being produced as he's now got his own bat and soft factory and it picking up some players to help grow the exposure side of things. Hes concentrating on keeping the products premium to avoid being dragged into the mass volume market of India.

As mentioned above Nick has some stock of them in the UK and they are well priced.
