Usually a letter stamp inside a box is the year of manufacture, but sometimes there are 2 stamps as mentioned in the thread.

I believe the theory was that the X (without a box) was the mark of a very well regarded GN bat maker at Robertsbridge.

I think it a year my cobra has a b which I think is current year

Indian made I think mine is a 5 star

My ultra has a A which I think is a year older
