I've got a bat with an absurdly thick toe and looking for some tips on reducing the thickness without doing anything daft.

I'd send it off to a batmaker but it's really a cheap wet weather/crap midweek ball bat so not really worth the investment.

I don't have access to batmaking tools, just an orbital sander and a rasp, so I'm fairly sure what I have to do but any little tidbits of advice would be much appreciated!

Mark the edges and toe and just take it down with 40/60/80 grit and then work your way through higher grits to get a half decent finish.

Definitely error on the side of caution with how much your removing though.
