!My Ayrtek helmet - Now With Pics!
« on: April 11, 2010, 08:25:52 PM »

After not owning a helmet for god knows how long and receving a couple of glancing blows to the noggin over the past couple of years thought id have a word with Tom and see what he could do for me.

Design: After a lot of mulling it over i went for a standard maroon finish with my intials 'DTN' on the side and back of the helmet. I was considering glod pinstripes to match the colours of my club but, i think thankfully i stuck with standard maroon.

Customer service/The Product: Tom was excellent, after getting a helmet out to me pretty quickly in the first place i discovered that due to the absolute mammoth size of my head it was too small and that the titanium grill also caught my chin when set in the furthest forward setting. He said he was getting some new inner padding bits (thats the technical term) for the larger headed gentleman and that when they were in i should send it back and he will fit the new padding and assess the grill situation. A week or so passed, he let me know the estimated delivery dates of the new padding in the mean time and then the call came to return the helmet. I sent the helmet last Monday, and received back on Friday, with the new padding bits and what im told is a sample Albion titanium grill which doesnt catch my chin. Absolutely delighted with the helmet and it is just so light, my friend has a Masuri titanium and when we netted yesterday i picked his up and it felt very heavy in comparison. I love the lid and was also very thankful for it when peppered during county nets this morning.

Thanks very much Tom, its a great product you got there mate and im not surprised the likes of sangakkara wear them they are genuinely the best helmet ive ever had. I hated wearing helmets, as i felt they always impeded vision and often didnt fit properly, but this is SUPERB!

Dan...does the new liner improve the fit then comparred to the previous liner?

Nice to get an unbiased view having seen/tried on both versions now, had fun and games getting the new liner developed due to having the PU custom finished and then formed into the ACIS.

The weight issue isnt something we just made up :) there is an actual 80g difference between the ACIS elite and Masuri Ti model as you can feel.

Glad your happy with it mate and hope you dont wear to many on the swede this coming season.

Cheers

Tom

They do look like fantastic lids and I love the fact you can design your own. My missus bought my last helmet about 2 years ago so I'll start dropping hints for one of these soon

Tom - The new liner is really comfortable and the fit is absolutely perfect, honestly it fits brilliantly! Usually helmets rub on the sides of my head but this one doesnt, actually can't speak highly enough of it!!!

My helmet doesn't fit that great at the mo, will prob get the new one... any chance I can come to the office in London to get it done? Save posting it and risking it get banged up like last time?

Dan...glad its an improvement in that case!

Think it fulfils the custom fit claim a bit better now with the improvements we have made, took 6 months but got there in the end :D

Leo...you could do but you would only find our accounts/admin dept's in London as I live in Bristol where the helmets are sorted out.
