Help with Bat Choice
« on: May 17, 2010, 11:40:08 PM »

Hi.  I am looking for a monster of a bat, with a few speculations.  Weight:  2.8 - 2.10 but would need to be a light pick up if it was a 2.10.  Size: Huge edges, massive middle, Price: Max £200.

I bat about 8 or 9, and like to swing like my life depends on it, so I want a huge chunk of wood that will send the ball to the moon.

It depends if you want a normal size bat as the black cat joker will give you that with ease but is a t20 style bat with shorter blade and linger handle although the people that have them on here say they feel normal in the hands or there is the vantage xl plus I have a talisman with 41mm edges or if you can stretch the budget there is a bulldog mr t all are huge bats

Firslty, Malcolm - it is an honour to have such a great cricketer on the forum :D
I have a lekka 20/20 bat here that is suitable for you requirements - also loads of other bats in your weight and spec in normal short handle size.
PM if you want any more details - you will get a lot of change from £200 as well.

I've played with a GM+ Icon 808 which is 2.14 but picks up like a 2.9/10 - it is unbelievable!
Of course you could go lighter :)

If you look at this bat from Hell4Leather (who is on this forum) looks like could be ideal within your weight and price range:

Or this huuuuge one from Vantage (again on the forum) (but bit heavier than you are after) but 44mm edges:

Cheers for the quick responses, I thought i'd maybe have to wait a week or two for a reply.  I should have stipulated, that it's a normal sized bat I'm after, as I need as much wood as possible or I'll never be able to hit the damn ball!  Apart from the GM I've never heard of any of the bats you all recommend, also If I can get a decent bat for less than £200 my wife I'll be happy as larry.

Think I'll need to spend a a little time having a look round the forum at the various bat makers.  If anyone can think of anything else that is light, huge, and won't break the bank then that'd be great.

Cheers

Yeah the best price to performance may be lekka from what i have heard, all i've seen have been beautiful and at 135 or less you cant lose. you'll be unlucky to get a bad bat from this forum or any batmaker on here, just depends how upmarket you wanna go!
