Grip tape
« on: March 30, 2010, 02:25:40 PM »

I hold the bat quite low, and often the tape that attaches the grip to the bat comes away, the grip rides up in the middle of an innings and it can be quite distracting.

What tape does everyone use on their bats, any ideas what the best type would be, to stop this problem occuring? I use electrical tape ATM

To be honest I glue it down most of the time as I had that problem that no tape would hold

Micropore/fiber tape, the orangey brown tape that looks like a plaster stick a few strips under the grip to grip it in place and stop it riding up simple!

Put a few drops of glue under the grip to hold it in place and then apply normal grip tape.

Having done a lot with grips over the years
I've never found glueing the grip to the handle effective
for long. The trick I use is to wrap one layer
of ordinary selotape around the handle the apply the grip.
Use old fashioned ordinary tape not the modern
opaque stuff. It doesn't matter if it's wrinkled in fact it's better!
The rubber then really grips to the handle.  You can use any electrical tape
at the bottom to give a neat finish.
