Winter Finals Are Over.
« on: September 01, 2008, 08:53:05 PM »

Umpired through the finals series with an old friend. The one day final and the two finals were a little one sided. A team had got into the one day final by a remarkable last wicket stand of 70 during which two catches were dropped so they were very fortunate. In the final they were blown off the park.

In the two day final one team clicked with a fine combination of a good young right arm quick bowling with the breeze and a smart old left armer who could bring the ball back into the breeze. A team was beaten outright with less than two hours played on the second day. Both games were played in a remarkably friendly spirit. There was a hint of a challenge to one Not Out decision to a caught behind appeal but everyone got on with the job after about 2 seconds.

It was great to have two umpires for the finals and it was a pleasure to umpire such great folks.
