i wish there was a bit more of that in real life, how many times to you see a group of lads having a kick around with a footy? would be good to get 4 or 5 together with a bat and a ball and just have a laugh and a bit of a mess about, try out a few new things etc. but it just doesnt happen, maybe thats crickets next challenge

They have a urban cricket scheme set up as part of the chance to shine programme that's supported by several pro's. Was roled out and progressing well when we were at the last dinner at the oval, lads at our club are also coaching in local schools to help raise the profile of the game which is part of a national scheme as well and even get paid for doing so....in india cricket is all u see being played like it is with footy over here!

When I was a kid me and my mates just used to play out in the street, with a taped tennis ball and a junior size bat - we had all kinds of crazy rules, such as automatic LBW - if it your legs you were out! Setting boundaries was always a laugh!

played similar tom, but if you hit a six then the ball was definately lost! six and out!! common phrase heard in our matches, plenty of balls needed too....

I have been through so many tennis balls! Started of in the back garden, never broke an windows which was good! Just using some stumps my bat and tennis ball. Now have moved out into the garages, using tennis balls stumps and my middling bat. Using my muddling bat for cricket like that has really improved my timing! Rules: Edge it behind is out. hits garage door softly = 1 run, harder = 2 and I have got the skill of just chipping balls for 6 without losing them! can also get the slog switch hit out as it will only go over the garages into my garden
