I find knocking in cricket bats a tedious thing to do and I was wondering what you guys do to make sure you've knocked your bat in properly and have you got any techniques when knocking it in?
I'm currently using a wooden mallet on my new solitaire, I believe the bat has been pressed and needs knocking in. I first of all stated of knocking the bat in very gently with a sock over the head of the mallet and then gradually getting a bit harder etc... I've knocked in the edges and the toe a fair bit already, but i never really know when the bat is knocked in properly...
I get bored whilst doing it and I don't tend to do it in one session, I normally do it in about 10 minute stints or whatever mainly all over the bat so I never really know how long i've knocked it in for. I've heard that if you can dig your nail in the bat and it leaves an indent then the bat isnt knocked in, but the bat came with a scuff sheet on it so I don't know if this still applies?
any help would be greatful, thanks.
