2 x Salix bats
« on: December 14, 2010, 06:24:43 AM »

A bit of background first. My daughter (not even remotely interested in cricket!) was travelling to London (from Aus) for a couple of weeks holiday and catch up with mates. Both my sons needed new cricket bats and what better place to buy them, but what cricket bat to buy? So after much researching in this forum and taking into account what retail outlet was in the area my daughter was staying we decided on two Salix bats a Praestantia and Pod both grade 1. While the boys have only played a couple of games both have preformed very well and the sons are very happy.
So thanks to Fordham Sports who helped my daughter with our choice and to everyone on this forum. Without your input I would not have had the confidence to purchase these two bats.

Welcome to the forum mate! I've not been here long and it's already costing me a fortune, both in buying new gear and spending half my working day talking about cricket. Sure those bats will do well for your lads

What size bats are these: SHs? If so, that must have set you back a lot, cause Fordham Sports sell at the RRPs, with no slight discounts..

Since his daughter was travelling I am assuming he livs outside UK so it is possible for him to get VAT knocked off..

No we didn't have to pay VAT  :) and the both bats, knocked in $850 aus. To put this in prospective one of the boys was looking at GM Flare original LE which was $700 aus, so we're very happy to have two small company made bats for $850. The reason I used a retail outlet was of it's proximity to where my daughter was staying, next time we purchase a bat I'm not sure which way we'll go. Maybe they both need to travel over to the mother country to play some cricket and then they can buy their bats directly from the supplier.

Sounds great! I am glad they are liking there Salix. I bought a Salix as well so can't wait until 24th!

Do you mind posting pictures of your son's Salix bats ? I'm sure all of us would be interested in that.

Wonder how the Ashes battle is going in your house :D

I'm not so sure it's a battle more like a cake walk  :( We're from WA (going to the test Friday  :D) and the boys are great fans of Hussey and Ponting critics. So you can imagine there is fair bit of get rid of punter and bring some more West Ausey boys into the side. I'll post some pic soon and get each of the boys to write a review.
