If you live in australia its definaely worth it. In the new new cricket catalouges gray nics are rtrying to sell there off the shelf bats for the same price as a screaming cat, and so are the others, so you would be crazy not to buy one.

I should just point out (having visited Julian in country Victoria) that the only reason the bats are that much more expensive than over here is because of the import costs that come with importing X amount of clefs from the UK - to back this up look at the cost of a GN XXX5 from Meulemans, or in fact any top of the line bat being sold in Aus. This means that he needs to charge 600$, which 3 years ago was £200-£240 = pretty reasonable. However because the Aussie dollar is relatively strong on the back of natural resources mainly, and the pound is quite weak that $600 is now many many more pounds.

My screaming cat has been easily the best bat I've ever used, it had one weekend where I hit 18 6's over two innings, pretty much all straight down the ground - and I'm pretty slight. But it has definitely died now after 1 and a bit seasons use, and it took a bit of time to become gun. I'd love another one, so I might try and visit Julian at Christmas when I'm back in Aus, but I personally could never pay £400 for just 1 bat...

I'd be a bit dissapointed with the bat lasting just over 1 season, especially as he supports bats with fewer grains (which are supposed to last longer).
But i assume you didnt have to pay nearly as much as you would over here seeing as you didnt have to pay postage costs etc. Always wanted to try one but £400 for a bat is just too much!

Yes hopefully, the problem is that they play the bulk of their fixtures prior to the end of the Uni season. The SC has definitely got something wrong with it, but that is after a year of heavy use...but the Nixons are still going STRONG! Also I'm keen to see some new SAF, I saw my first one 2 years ago this summer and I bet they are way better now...

In my opinion Julian may well be the best bat maker in the world and his bats are absolutely superb, unfortunately the exchange rate and import duty and p&p means they cost the earth which is a real shame or you would certainly see a greater number around the leagues in the UK.

Punter-Did you ever do a review on your SC as it must be the ultimate bat experience going over their and seeing it be made! What was the price you paid at the time of getting it over their? Only ask as it must have been substantially less than getting it shipped to UK...

Yeah I did a review, should be on here somewhere. Paid around $500, which at the time was £220 ish. It felt like a lot then...
