What to do?
« on: October 01, 2010, 10:43:15 AM »

Noticed this about a week ago on my bat.

Bought the bat last June from meulemans do you think ill get a refund from them or GM or has one season been to long.
Btw the crack goes from basically were the sticker breaks to where the line stops, so its pretty big and its a really deep and its on both sides of the spine.

It's a common fault I've seen on heavily concaved bats, not sure if that's a cause or just coincidental.

Should be returned.

It's actually most likely to be a handling fault, since the split seems to be at the bottom of the splice, manufacturing faults should get a repair even over the normal 12 month warranty.

Would you say though there is more stress on the section if there is a sharp spine in the bat?

I'm not sure about at the base of the splice but there seems to be more breaks about 4 inches above the toe in the heavily concaved spines. The main stress on the base of the splice is heavy weight and low middles, they place a lot more stress through the joint.

I had something similar to his on my kookaburra kahuna, just a little lower down i think. Kookaburra effectively washed their hands of it and told me that it was not a manufacturing fault and that i could take it up with my retailer if i wanted but not them.
I had owned mine for a season and a half i think but used it for just under a season.
Choice Willow said there was no point repairing it and to just use it till the middle died or the bat split in half  :(
The middle died a couple of net sessions after i noticed the crack  :(

My Purist II hung in for a while, even with a couple of mm gap in the blade from toe to splice. Then it went, and my first thought was 'this bat feels lighter'....

What model was it originally, and what will you change it for?
