Thanks guys for the comments and the debate I`ve inadvertently started. I`ll keep on scouring some sites to look at my options. At the risk of starting another debate, what brand would good folk go for?

I've had 3 Hunts and they've all been belters, Tony Cook is a skillful man and I'm not sure why they've got an average reputation. Stickers need changing though!

Thanks for the reminder about the Hunts. I had one some years ago and it was a good one. I`m probably just working my way through different brands and I ought to go back to what I`ve used before. Perhaps its me but there seems to be so much more choice!

Hello Smilingjeff, welcome to the show. inevitably there is a lot of choice in a competitive market. Looking at the Custombats bat world cup in the bat section will give you an idea as to what is popular on this forum. Recently I have used a Newbery, a Black Cat, a SAF bat and a county bat, all of which I really liked, having said that I would love a Hawk, a Redback and a Vantage - but that is a way off for me , it partially depends on your budget and the shape you like. Where you live also has an impact as being able to go and choose a bat from a "bat cave" or have one made for you on the spot has to be the way to go...

Can also recommend Redback, had a really good bat from them, doesn't seem to have been a bad review (Infact hasn't been an even average review of them!) on the forum. Everyone who has had one has loved it!

Thanks guys for the welcome and the advice - much appreciated. I live in Staffordshire, so pretty central to do some visiting. Just glancing around I do like the look of both Vantage and Redback but I`m sure there is a ton of good stuff out there and I need to find what suits me best - thanks again for the advice.

Perhaps a SAF custom would be a good bet. I'm sure if you PM andy he'll be more than happy to discuss your needs! I've got one and it's a belter. However, all the custom brands on this forum will offer you great bats, depends on your budget really. (Welcone to the forum btw :D)

I'll throw Charlie French into the ring. I've had a few off him - including my current match bat, and I think he's pretty good.

Don't think they're seen far from Notts though.

Tony Cook at Hunts is one of the most experienced batmaker going, been making bats for at least 50 years.

Wish there was a 'like' button for this!!

A guy in my sides got a Charlie French and it's a beauty

I seem to remember Darren Maddy and Neil Carter using Hunts with new stickers in the CB40 final

I@d also side with the Hunts comments. Also have a very nice M&H, but probably a bit pricier.
