Just got back from first physio visit and she's strongly advised no more cricket for this season, due to the position of the break, and the fact I broke the bone twice

Feels good to not have the splint on, and to be able to exercise and bend the finger, but I'm not gonna risk causing more damage from an impact by playing.
She said the buddy taping etc is fine with the lower bones, but mines the finger tip, and it's broke through the joint or something.

Gutted is an understatement

Probably been one of my worst seasons to be honest.
Struggled with the golfers/tennis elbow early on and didn't really sort a bat until half the season had gone, and my general fitness is an embarrassment

My goals for next year will be totally different
I'm gonna hopefully net through the winter, to try and be ready for the start of the season, as opposed to using the season to get match fit, which is stupid and asking for injuries.

On the bat front, my match bat is perfect, so I have enough part mades to shape a few copies that should get me through the season.

bad news Northern...sounds a nasty break... if it helps a bit there is talk of organising a regular southern net from October onwards...we are just going to see if there is enough interest.

Not quite the same as playing but could help get ready for the 2017 season...

Pulling my hair owt not playing!
Got a double header this weekend, last two games of the season, I'm gonna risk it and make myself available .
Will strap it up with a bit of padding for fielding, I need to feel bat on ball one more time before winter kicks in

Big thanks for all the advice given

I was in the same boat as you at the start of the season mate, missed 10 games in all I think! Just didn't know what to do with myself! As long as you can grip a bat mate you'll be sorted, just hide yourself in the field somewhere haha that's what I did!

It's also been interesting moving the finger , I've got a feeling I may have damaged it last season as I had a ball clip it .
It feels the same now as it did then
Must have maybe weakened it or something at that time
Suppose I was lucky it didn't break sooner this season .

I'm not sure what I'm doing playing wise next year, so I really needed to end this season with a good knock
We have top of the league team on Sunday , so would be nice to get a few against them

I've gotta hide myself in the field these days anyway!ha

Played yesterday after two days preparing the wicket and ground.
Reduced to 25 over per side game due to the weather, put them in to bat, and the finger was fine fielding, didn't bat due to rain stopped play

We have top of the league today, so hopefully the fingers upto a bit of batting
