clean down  the face and  remove the scuff sheet, clean the toe and then store away in a clean dry room

lol my dad hates me when it comes to looking after my cricket bats. My Hunts County Edge CC was bought brand new, I took the stickers off and put Ballistic ones on and I thought it looked tacky so I took them off too. I then used white spirit (VERY RISKY BUSINESS!) to remove the glue marks and I have had anti scuffs on and off about 3 times. I sand it down after every couple of 100 runs and re-oil it if it looks dry/brittle. I have just ordered some Kahuna stickers for it and am now debating whether to go Stanford Style and spray it black too???

As for my Fusion Superbest, to be honest I haven't really done anything with it apart from light throwdowns in the year I've had it.

I have vowed not to mess about with my new Hunts County Custom though but I'm not sure how long that will last!

So as a rule of thumb I sand/oil/do silly things to my bats for the sake of it.

One thing I would like to do in future though is label my bats all the same.

I just leave mine in my bedroom all winter in the corner and then get it refurbed.

Never refurb a bat which has served me well, if it is cracking up, put some fibreglass tape over the cracks. Don't use scuff sheets on my Fusion's either, as I know they are great bats - I leave the scuff sheets on the branded bats I am unsure about - As they are easier to clean up for resale.

Would be interesting to see if I left a bat at a dead weight in the airing cupboard over the winter months, to see if the density changes.
