Following on from another thread, coach buzz mentioned that shadow batting is a good way to check your eyes are level before you try and play a shot, so i thought I'd give it a go this evening.
The results were quite interesting for me. As a 6'5" guy, i knew that using a short handle bat in a guard was likely to put me in the wrong position, but boy, how!
I've been batting with t20 bats and hitting most stuff, and likewise with the lh,lb blade so thought it would be an interesting experiment.
I found that with a t20 style bat, i do a graham gooch style stance with the bat halfway up and my eyes level. With the lhlb, although the bat is on the ground in a normal stance, it is long enough for me to stand normally and be level. With a short handle in a more guarded stance, I tended not to bat well, and have now discovered that my head is at a wierd angle, and it's really uncomfortable trying to keep my eyes level. All stuff to be considered for future batting.
Anyone else tried it and found something interesting?
