Father christmas (as he is affecionately known) is still alive, answering calls and making bats (to be proved) as of last month.

I also haven't seen many new wesssex bats - all the more reason to take a little trip down to him, check up on the old man - could even introduce him to nipper :)

The bat I was referring to is about 18 years old, I will see if I can dig it out of the loft tomorrow and take a couple of pics to compare it

She's a beaut Buzz!!!! I really like the old hunts bats, just picked up a reflex special off a team mate and it has that massive ducks bill toe - an iconic shape in my opinion!!
For those who havn't seen the Wessex bat then here are the pics, the stickers wont amaze you but i dont think he cares much for that stuff.

I've always been a fan of the old school hunts bats. I had a reflex for a while, am a huge fan of the duck bill toe too, although i'm not sure of the performance value of them! The county laser was the bat I always wanted...

Any update on your visit to see 'Father Christmas'? If he's still making Wessex bats could you post his contact details?
