My best advice is to just bat time, stay in the middle for as long as you can- you can't get runs in the clubhouse!  Try to just pick up the singles where you can and the runs should start to flow.

i have heard the suggestion go out and have a slog, try and hit yourself into some form? whats worse that can happen? u get out, which you have probably being doing anyway.

I find the biggest think is to relax and WATCH THE BALL

I lost a bit of form last season and just decided to throw the wood at everything, I found that it didn't work for me.
I only regained it when I slowed down and went straight back to basics. Watch the ball all the way onto the bat, play each ball on it's merit. Straight bat and keep contol of your head etc... It took what seemed like forever to get 10, but then timed a nice straight drive and moved quickly into the 20's.
Just keep playing, and like Richie said, spend a bit of time in the middle.

Totally agree with Marcussjd9, in the fact of going back to basics- play with a straight bat, and play each ball on it's merits.  After loosing my form I had a chat with one of the elder blokes at my club who had just hit his 3rd 100 in 4 games, and the main point he made was to concentrate on watching the ball out of the bowlers hand-something that we take for granted sometimes!  Another thing he said was not to over-think about what you are doing, when you are out of form you tend to think about what shot to play and where your feet should be etc. all this processing takes up valuable time when the ball is bowled, and you never think about these when you are in form, do you?

i find that when I'm out of form that it is more mentally than physically and i tend not to look what  score im on and dont worry about the score board and just concentrate 100 % on my batting and dont worry if i play and miss i believe that if you think too much about it you will get yourself out

ahahaha,

[Admin Edit - No need for that, first warning]  a state player down at my club told me that when he feels out of form, he doesnt care about moving his feet and looking techinically the best, but all he does is watch the ball and make sure he is really concentrating on that.

As been mentioned before, its best to go back to basics and just try and bat time and naturally the form will come back.

Aye the northerners Richie! What i tend to do when im out of form is just try and get forward to most of the deliveries so that my footwork and balance all comes back into play as when im out of form that is what causes my collapse in my batting, my balance.

If any one saw clarke in the test today, he just couldnt hit one out of the middle. To counter this he just hung around. Funnily enougbh he hit the last ball of the day out of it and got 3. If thats anything to go buy i suggest just toughing it out in the middle and eventually something will happen.

I hot a damp patch mid of last season. Though I am more of a stand and deliver batsman, I took my senior most team mate's (he's 72) advise to spend time in the middle. Not rry to go after the bowl or bowler. watch the ball onto the bat - more specifically onto the middle of the bat and play straight with the full face of the bat. Play the ball under my nose.

To start this seemed to be more difficult than living with out oxygen. I got beaten with the swing, got a number of edges, lbw appeals and got hit on the nuts. But once I concentrated and got a few ball in the middle of the bat, things started to turn around.

I hit 34 n.o. in the match. Possibly the longest time to get to 34 in my playing years. But it was worth it.

Hats off to my mates who batted around me and kept the scoring rate up and took the pressure off me.
