Hunts county reflex 8* (for buzz) with pictures!
« on: April 20, 2011, 07:43:27 PM »

This is the David Millns bat from ebay. Here are the pictures. Quickly done with the phone I'm afraid, but at least they show what I am talking about!

A brief description of the bat is:

Chunky profile, narrowish edges (probably only about 12-15 mm), funny scalloped toe. Being an early nineties design there is no concaving and it picks up very light for the 2 lb 10 weight and pretty low middle.

With a brief bit of knocking in, I took it to nets tonight. I was pleasantly surprised! For a 15 year old lump of Willow it played really well. It isn't up to instinct but it is way better than the kippax. I was pleasantly surprised and would have to suggest that Hunts knew what they were doing when this was designed.

As I was having a "bad net day" and basically mistiming everything, I was interested to see that the non concaved, narrow edge and reasonably large spine approach had still generated a large sweetspot. From this experience, I'd argue that fat edges and loads of concaving don't really do a great deal more than give a specific cosmetic look. I think hunts should bring it back!

Ebay done good!
