I've got a couple of bats in the wardrobe which I bought but have not had the opportunity to use yet. They're in there away from the elements, but they seem to be gaining weight, presumable from either humidity or damp?
One was 2.11.9oz about 6 weeks ago, pulled it out today and its 2.12.5oz, the other one was about 2.11.5oz fully loaded, and has now worked its way up to 2.12oz. I haven't oiled them as I do not want to take the "new" look, or value from them until I'm ready to use them. To be honest I'm not a big oiler anyway, prefer to add a face and be done with it but I'm certainly considering now to keep the moisture out.
Does anyone else notice this with their new unoiled bats? I've had one in the hot water cupboard a while back and it dropped a good few ounces but I don't like to leave them on high all the time.
What are the options here over winter and while not being used? Is it a matters of understanding the original shop/ delivery weights and so long as I don't dry past this in the hot watercupboard its all good?
After some bat makers advice here as they're not cheap bats.
