one of my favourite batters mate there when with Desmond in full flow

I like to try and mention the Greenidge and Haynes partnership at regular intervals to the younger members of my side in case they think that Jayasuriya invented tee'ing off as an opening batsman. These two boys did it 10 years before and were better at it...and Jayasuriya is a great player.

Was simply amazing the way he took the Aussi bowlers apart, especially Gillespie who wasn't the same again and arguably set the ball rolling for what was one of the finest English summers in a lifetime
