ECB Bargain Basement Bats
« on: May 18, 2011, 10:34:52 PM »

Like a few other people, I saw the link to the ECB page and thought I'd dip into my pocket and pick up a couple of their bargain basement bats.

Having almost no epxerience of Adidas kit, I thought I'd acquire a couple of these for not much more than a crappily covered GN.

My acquisitions were a £40 Incurza County SH, 2.7 which weighs in at the big old weight of 2.7.2 with 8 grains and a £50 Pellara County SH 2.9 that comes in at 2.8.8 with 7 grains. These are both Grade 3 bats, and it tells you so on the stickers. Both are provided with Addidas bat covers.

The pics below show the two bats alongside the Instinct (current match bat) which weighs in at 2.9.8. It's interesting to see the difference in the sizes.

Then of course we have the shapes of these bats. There are some funny edging contours on the Incurza, and the only way I can describe the Pellara is "A plank with a Toblerone stuck on its back". Maybe it's using one of these that has stopped KP scoring runs! Personally shape wise I prefer the Incurza.

When it comes to pick up, they both pick up very light, but the Incurza appears to have a marginally larger middle than the Pellara when hit with the mallet. Maybe something to do with the different approach to the shape!

Anyway, here are some pictures looking down the spine!

Enjoy folks!

Both look good value for money, you should be able to double your money on the dreaded ebay.

Got to admit that they certainly look promising. The mallet use was promising. I think after four hours or so of knocking in they could be extremely good bats.

We shall see. I'll probably get rid of one of them, as I don't need both.

Seems as though a few people have already done that. I searched for Adidas Cricket and a fairly large number of new 2010 Libros and a 2010 Pellara popped up!
