What are the Newbery Test Softs like?
« on: June 06, 2011, 03:11:26 PM »

Hey,
Just wondering whether anybody had used the most recent Newbery Test Softs, and if they are able to tell me what they are like; as in comfort, movement, protection type thing??  :)

I have Newbery Test Gloves and they are okay in my opinion nothing exceptional about them to be honest.

They are quite stiff when you wear them and that is due to traditional design but then I have other traditional style gloves and they are good.

I haven't used mine yet because I find them still, as far protection goes it is definitely top notch very good protection.

For 25-30 Pounds you can't go wrong with the protection. Let me know if you have anyother questions

I'm quite into softs and I have used tons and tons of different brand softs and believe me the best ones I have ever owned or used are Salix Pod Black, Puma Iridium 5000 and Gray Nicolls Legend they are expensive but worth every penny trust me!

Do you mind if I ask where are you gettting sponsorship from ?

No, course not... I have had loads of offers from companies; Woodstock Cricket, Shark Cricket, Smasher Cricket, Island Cricket, Vulcan Cricket, Vsports... etc.

You can either apply to companies, however some have certain vacancy windows, eg. Gunn & Moores was November - January this year, or i have played in big charity events, whereby certain sponsors have asked me to sponsor there equipment.

What would you say are the best softs for a £30-£40 budget for each gloves and then the same for pads??
(Sorry for all the Questions)

You have offers from companies who would sponsor a teapot if it applied, no one get refused as these companies offer over inflated RRP's to give a discount.

If you were sponsorship material you would not be asking about soft's on here, but since you are I'd say the Newbery Test range offers good protection at a cheap price.

SUK might be the guy that applied to Lekka for sponsorship as he said he played in charity events with Piers Morgan.

I played a couple of games with Tim Henman? Free bat?  :D

Playing a charity game with Piers Morgan should be a surefire way of never getting sponsored by anyone ever...

Could anybody confirm if the thumbs for the Test glove are leather as most softs in that price bracket have synthetic ones. The leather palms last but their thumbs - usually some other flimsy material - rip at the sewing. Any clues?
