quick question/bit of advice...
« on: June 13, 2011, 07:32:40 PM »

Having a play around with my new bat and trying to figure out the grip format on it, 1, 2 etc...  I have always wondered what 1 and a half felt like so did that and tried with my gloves and feels amazing, everything felt balanced and just right! So...

* has or does anybody have there grip this way?

* a friend of mine said he once had it but couldn't play off his legs this way, ad anybody had a similar problem?

Cheers in advance

Thats just sounds stupid to me!

I've had it like that previously, and was fine.

But you shouldn't take our advice - just go with whatever is comfortable for you

If this player was a bottom hand/wristy player then it might have had this effect as he couldn't grip properly with his bottom hand to rotate the bat etc.
I have picked up a guy in our 1sts bat that has 2.5 grips on, it felt disgusting to me, absolutely disgusting and i would never set mine up like it but it's obviously worked for him as on saturday he passed 1000 runs for the season!

I use a thick oval handle and then 1 and 1/2 grips, as mentioned above the idea is to weaken the bottom hand and to allow the top hand to control the bat as a result you play straighter.
that is the theory.
the practice is, as also mentioned, to go with what is most comfortable, or what you think will allow you to score more runs...

Cheers buzz. It's a bit of a heavier bat than normal too so that's why I got excited for the way it felt so right.

I had a similar set up on the Joker I had. It felt odd at first, but was okay after a while. Generally though, I stick to a single grip, and find the combi grips to be the most comfortable, probably because they achieve the same kind of thing!

Reds I take it you have the half grip on the bottom?
