Time to change my luck
« on: July 29, 2011, 08:11:08 PM »

Right, I've not batted much this season. When I have batted I've either not looked like getting out and then got triggered/(No Swearing Please) attacking shot or been so late on the ball it's silly. No idea why but I'm going to change a few things:-

1. Going to try my specs - don't think they make a big difference but might help to pick up the ball earlier
2. Added another (octopus) grip to my H4L, pickup didn't feel right and though I have small hands, maybe I'm hold the bat to tight
3. Using my GN Evo gloves, been using the Kippax Pittard Sausage gloves and they don't feel as flexible.

Any other ideas?

try batting left-handed? Which pad do you currently put on first?

Have a net before the game, get some time in the middle (v. Important) Go range hitting, play in a sixes tournament.

Last week we scored 350-2, hence lack of middle time  :D

Playing Sundays/T20 at the moment and I'm pretty scratchy in those games as well. I'm not superstitious but believe technical things can help.

I always change tiny things but a different feel at the crease just puts me in a different frame of mind. Before now I have:

Changed batting inners from none to fingerless to padded to full
Changed gloves
Put pads on other leg
Wear/take sweatband off forearm
Swap sweatband to other arm
Change Bat
Wear a cap instead of helmet
Change grip set up
Bat in a different position

Realistically I don't think it makes 1 bit of difference but just having a different feel/setup changes my frame of mind and seems to help.

  • Clear your mind, stay still and watch the ball

practice harder, that usually makes you luckier... to miss quote a few people...
