Softs Manufacturers
« on: May 12, 2014, 10:21:09 AM »

Morning all, I'm looking at softs manufacturers for my brand, and just after a bit of advice if anyone is willing?

I've been in touch with about half a dozen in India/Pakistan but really want to gather as much info as possible before taking the plunge, I've had samples from both Bholla and Kay Gee Sports which I was happy with, but I know people on here would know a fair but about the most trustworthy/reliable suppliers so any input would be great.

Thanks in advance!

Would recommend Surinder at Robinson Sports - I've used him up until now, expensive but very good quality (Better than the others you mentioned by a distance I'd say)

There's enough of them out there, it's sifting through all of the rubbish to find the good ones - softs are a very expensive process, not a decision to take lightly!

And the rest... haha

Robinsons will probably want more - he's a reasonable bloke mind so you might be able to get him down less. My first order was for pittance compared to the 2nd and 3rd but he could see what I was trying to do, being at Uni at the time funds were limited - since then I've had funding from Start Up UK as well as other sources so in a much better position now.

They'll look after you, it won't be cheap but it'll be worth spending the extra compared to elsewhere

You've got it

Import taxes + the cost of the shipping + the carriage from port to the HQ = not a cheap process!

For any brand starting out I'd recommend spending a year focussing on getting the bats right, get the name out there and then go for the full range - its a lot of money to invest for what is a hard market to enter with the number of start ups nowadays. Perseverance is key.

On the plus side it is an enjoyable process (albeit time consuming) for a massive cricket badger like myself haha

it is amusing though when people tell me that their pads are 'higher quality' than mine when it's exactly the same supplier.. not that they know that mostly
