Bat Refurb, Ideas, hints and Help
« on: August 22, 2011, 08:02:34 PM »

Hi All.

So I am about to refurb my 1st bat, a Woodworm Globe Premier.

I am hoping this thread will spawn ideas and also helpful hints.

All I would kinda know what to do would be to strip it, sand it, oil it.

I am interested in removing the shoulders (Like a Newbery TT) would this be as easy as going at my bat with a jigsaw? Or are there things I need to take into consideration, thickness of the wood around the split for example.

The bat itself has hairline cracks going up the inside edge, and one crack approximately 1 inch long in the middle of the bat (just below "pre knocked in" sticker would be for those who know). This crack looks as if it could grow.

How do I repair/stop that crack?

I have heard of Shoo Goo? Would this be useful to have?

I will post before pics this week, then photos of my progress.

Not my bat, but profile of the bat:

(Hope that works, not posted an image in here yet)

Appreciate all help/advice.

MD
