Ok, so before I continue, I must admit to being a sucker for a scoop. I feel sure that I must have mentioned this before, but, before I continue, I'm mentioning it again.
Okay, so what is this? Well, it's the £99 Xiphos Carbo LH. It weighs in at 2lb 9oz (and that's selecting the medium weight option !!!). It picks up so much better than the three pound version ever did and it's at least on a par with the rebound of the cheap Kook from Millet sports off the mallet. It surprised me by picking up very well, as the heavier version was rubbish, and at such a light weight , it feels eminently swingable.
It has a little concaving and some very noticeable, almost scoops. It has a fair bit of graping and of course the carbon handle. I think the most surprising thing is the size of the bat for the weight. It's a biggy!
It still amazes me that these get sold of for so little simply because they aren't trendy anymore and are considered old stock as they are still very good and very big bats. Admittedly, I'd feel a little hard done by if I'd paid the £200+ list for it, but I think that £130 is not unreasonable if it were new...
