Which sander?
« on: November 18, 2011, 03:47:23 PM »

Looking to refurb my bat, might also want to take an ounce off the toe.  Which sander do you use and would you recommend it?

cheers

random orbital sanders are always good because you get no sanding marks (very little anyway) couple of different grades on that and your away. ive just got a new one from axminster tools. was on offer but i think i grabed the last one. alternatively any electric sander will do and then finish with hand sanding of various grades. i do 120, 150,180 240 320 and 400. seems to give a good finish.

id also be careful as to taking weight out. a full refurb will prob deduct an oz or maybe 2 depending on condition of the bat. if your looking to improve the pick up then a refurb may help without taking extra from the toe. guess it depends how it picks up now

I would go for a belt sander, for easy sanding of concaved bats. If you have none of your bats are concaved, then I would recommend this (which I have):

As it takes any sandpaper not just specific sheets, you just cut the sandpaper into size and clip it on. It is excellent for removing wood and the like.
