Laminate?!

This could be a stupid topic but is it just me or is Angelo Mathews using a lam in this pic?

It looks almost like a pigskin type scuff sheet which isn't wide enough to cover the bat face, so he's used batting tape for the remainder.

Seems a bit strange for an international cricketer to have run out of scuff sheets. Looks like he's recycled a well used one too. The bat at the top looks new. Times must be hard

Perhaps he's not bothered if his bat looks pretty and has a perfect scuff sheet on it.

The bat under the batting tape looks new, if it is a laminate it's a new kind where they must have transplanted out the face of the bat.

I guess it's possible but looked like a normal bat to me.

I agree, not many people on this forum know what a nicely used bat looks like... they are too busy buying new ones  ;)
