Is Kruger van Wyk going to be the next Alan Knott.
« on: March 17, 2012, 04:56:05 PM »

Being older than a conker tree I had the pleasure to grow up watching Alan Knott keep wicket and also score some handy runs on occasions. He was the main reason I became a keeper. I still have a pair of his red slazenger test gloves.

Having watched New Zealand play South Africa I was impressed with Van Wyks tidy keeping and he reminds me in manerism, stature and style of Knotty.

He batted well enough in both innings and will be in contention for a tour place if he continues in the same vien.

Thoughts or comments please. :)

The only thing that he doesn't have going for him is that he probably won't be NZ's first choice once Watling has recovered from injury.

Watling's flaky, I'd go for van Wyk

I don't really know much about either, but I am quite a fan of watching Van Wyk, watching him bat and keep in both tests and been very pleased with what I saw from him.

I dont see why McCullum is not keeping, he is not a good enough batsman to warrant demanding not to keep.

Van wyk looks quite gutsy. NZ batting looks unbelievably light, can't believe they go in with 5 bowlers and bat Vettori at 6!

Not sure if he's the NZ long term keeper, why would NZ got to the trouble of recruiting Ronchi from WA?

@langer, I suspected because his equip is junior size?
