Which thigh pads?
« on: March 08, 2013, 09:21:33 PM »

Hi, just wondering what strippers you would recommend; Aero P2 strippers, the new Kookaburra 2013 Pro Guard Players Lower Body Protection or the Slazenger Xlite lower body protectors.
Thankyou

It's more a question on how much you want to spend tbh.

Remfry's
Stretton Fox's
Aero P1's or 2's
Kookas look ok

Top two are probably the 'best' followed by P1's/2's, then the rest.

Aero P2's mate I swear by the and unless you play county or minor county level they will give adequate protection, fit really well and easily washable.

I use a Kookaburra thigh pad and can't recall ever being bothered when I take a hit from a fast delivery. They are pretty thick yet still quite light and comfortable and a decent size too. Definately better than the old GN ones we used to use. Think I only paid about £11 for it and has lasted 2 seasons and still in very good condition. Only thing I disliked about it was that the strap that goes around your thigh is too long but nothing a pair of scissors and a needle and thread can't deal with!

Jason Roy wears P2's so even at county level they are excellent protection.

you say your price range is up to £45 - so on that basis you have lots of options.
The first question is do you want a traditional set, in which case they are all much of a muchness and I would go with the one whose branding you like the most, or if you want a "stripper" in which case it is the Aero P2 (or P1 which are around £50) as the best in class and most liked option...

good luck!

I do have P2 strippers which are great pads and very comfortable!
Mine are getting a little scraggy now as they have been well used. So I will decide when I know my budget next month!

If £40 budget then P2's will be excellent and good enough.
If I have extra then I would prefer a lighter and more confortable set - and that would be Stretton Fox.

Don't buy the Kookaburra pro guard. See my review here http://custombats.co.uk/cbforum/index.php?topic=4404.195
