MY UZI C6+
« on: February 26, 2009, 02:38:47 PM »

Since I mentioned the UZI in my previous post (My New AM Plain), I thought I should do a short review of the same.

Got this bat about a month back from Asad. Top bat. I am glad I took Asad's word on the pick-up and rebound qualities of the bat.

I asked Asad for a bat with big edges and a jumbo middle - 29-2.10 but light pick-up and of the many bats was recommended the UZI C6+. Cost me £210 delivered, not a bad deal. 9Even though Asad wanted me to wait till he came back from Pakistan where he would get one made for me at CA, but I am a impulsive when it comes to bats....)

When I first received the bat and tapped it with a mallet, the mallet rebounded beautifully off the bat but it felt and sounded strange. I tried the same with a ball. Again the ball pinged off the bat fabulously, but the sound was still like I was striking something brittle. I hope you guys understand what I mean. The sound of mallet or ball on a cane handle is deeper and fuller but with this it was sharp. (I have not used a carbon handle before). This created serious doubts in my mind whether I should keep and use this bat or return it to Asad for a regular cane handle bat. I called Asad to discuss and the rest is history.

I have used the bat in nets over the past few weeks and the performance is great. The middle has great rebound qualities and the pick-up is very good for a 2.11

The bat comes down very well and helps me generate a good amount of bat speed

The grains - 16 of them are very straight and all sapwood.

The bats is a gun and has definitely put a end to my bat hunt for this season. (Though I would still like to have one more in my kit).

However, I am still coming to terms with the carbon handle as I feel a bit cut off from the feel of my shots. The balls race of the middle but i get a feeling I have not hit it too well. Not sure idf this is in my mind or the way carbon handles are meant to perform.
