knocked in
« on: March 28, 2012, 01:44:40 PM »

Hello,

Had a light batting session today outside and i have spent 3 hours knocking in but the bat has a light surface crack and a few seam marks from first net.
Any recommendations on what to do? Like a cover or something

Give it some more time with the mallet mate.

If it's a light surface crack possible give it a light sand and then it may come out, then apply a scuff sheet afterwards :)

Use as fine a grade as you can find and give it a light sanding by hand mate :)

Yeah I know what you mean.
What bat is it out of interest?

Leave it in the face, you only cause more damage by sanding the face.

The best bats open up, its a good idea to put anti scuff on it to keep it all together but don't worry about cracks in the face.

Tommo, is this the bat you won off eBay? I did say that it was softly pressed and would need plenty of knocking in, did respond very well to the mallet though. Let me know if you have any issues.

I've heard that before. People talk about pressing cracks being a good sign. Why is this?

Because it is stiffer, returns more energy.
